About Us
Named after the locally famous, St Margaret’s Well, recorded in the Doomsday book, it now nestles amidst the sloping natural beauty of The Well House Inn garden. Our large heated Flexitent covers the main garden area making it perfect to celebrate any occasion no matter the weather forecast! Our well stocked outside bar is open during weekends (weather permitting). Our bar and dining areas retain the history, relaxed elegance and delightful quirks of 15th century England.
Nestled in the heart of the Surrey Hills and located within the charming countryside of Mugswell, The Well House Inn is a welcoming and peaceful destination for everyone, including our four-legged friends. We are extremely dog friendly, and welcome dogs in our main bar, snug and garden areas. We also have a treat waiting for your furry friends at the bar as well ! Please advise us if you are bringing your dog with you when booking.
Join us and whet your whistle on our variety of wines, gins and locally sourced real ales, ( as featured in The Good Beer Guide 2023) as well as our exclusive cocktail list. Take in the stunning views from our large garden area nominated by Surrey Live as one of the best gardens in Surrey. Alternatively you might choose to sit inside and cosy up next to one of our three log fires and have a bite to eat from our extensive variety of fresh locally sourced dishes.
Our Team
The Well House Inn is proudly operated by husband and wife team Sam and Jamie.
We are a very close knit family run pub with 2 of our daughters often found behind the bar or serving in our restaurant.
Our staff have become an extension of our family along with Mitchell (Assistant Manager) and Izzy (Apprentice) both of whom have worked at the pub for the past 3 years, as well as part timers many of whom always return to work with us when back from university.
Our kitchen team is headed up by Miguel who has been Head Chef at The Well House for the past 3 years and for those you have eaten with us will know he never fails to deliver on quality.
